Convoy alternatives

If Convoy is not the right fit, these are the serious options and the situation each one suits. Every claim was checked against the vendors' own pages on 16 August 2026.

In short

  • Convoy is a real product: A bi-directional webhook gateway, open-core, available either self-hosted or as their cloud.
  • People usually look elsewhere because much of what a team wants in production sits behind the $999/month Premium licence.
  • The right alternative depends on one constraint — a portal, self-hosting, tunnelling, transformations, or the size of the first paid step.
  • HookGet is one of the options, and this page says where it is not the answer.

How to read this page. Every claim about another product below was read off that company's own public pages on 16 August 2026, and each one links to the page it came from — check it yourself, that is what the links are for. Pricing and features move without anyone telling us, so our build fails if this page goes more than 120 days without a re-check. Everything stated about HookGet is something you can verify in the product today. If we have something wrong, tell us and it is fixed the same day.

Why people look for an alternative to Convoy

  • Portal links, JS transformations, RBAC, endpoint circuit breaking and OpenTelemetry export are Premium — $999 a month for a self-hosted licence key. source
  • Self-hosting means operating the gateway and its dependencies, PostgreSQL among them. source

None of these makes it a bad product. The Community edition is free forever and self-hostable, with incoming and outgoing webhooks, retries and message-broker support.

The alternatives

HookGet

Managed delivery with per-endpoint retry schedules, per-endpoint secrets and rotation, dead letters with replay and gap repair, verified inbound sources, an MCP server for assistants, and EU hosting with no region premium. Free covers 50,000 deliveries a month and the first paid step is $29. Not the answer if you need an embeddable portal, transformations, a tunnel CLI, non-HTTP destinations, self-hosting or a compliance report today.

Svix

The category leader, and the authors of the Standard Webhooks specification. Strongest when: you need the embeddable portal, transformations, a compliance report today, or mTLS to destinations. Worth weighing: the step from their free tier to the next one is $490 a month. Svix's site.

Hookdeck

An event gateway with the strongest local-development story in the category, plus Outpost, their Apache-2.0 self-hostable engine. Strongest when: you want a local tunnel, non-HTTP destinations through Outpost, transformations, or you would genuinely rather self-host. Worth weighing: their signature is computed from one project-level secret. Hookdeck's site.

Hook0

A small, EU-first webhook service from France — bootstrapped, six years in service, source-available under SSPL-1.0. Strongest when: you want EU hosting from a small independent European company, per-subscription retry control, and a portal for your subscribers. Worth weighing: the free plan stops at 100 events a day and the licence is SSPL rather than OSI open source. Hook0's site.

Writing it yourself

Still a legitimate answer when delivery is your product, or when volume is small and consumers are few. What accumulates afterwards is the reason this category exists: per-destination limits, breakers, rotation, replay, and answering "did you send it?" for support. The homegrown page is honest about both directions.
